Besichtigungsbemerkungen der atlantik wall durch Generalfeldmarschalls Rommel. 24 bis 26-03-1944. 
On 17 july 1944 Gen.Feldm. Rommel was seriously wounded by an air-attack while driving in his staff-car. There was an assessination attempt on Hitler on 20 july 1944. Hitler declaired in august that veldmarshals von Kluge and Rommel had a relation to the actors. On 14 october Rommel commited suicied

 

Fortress IJmuiden (Festung IJmuiden)  

  • Baupunkt 63 This is an interesting site with a mammut radar bunker V143 and a marinesignalstelle. 
  • Baupunkt 66 (Seeziel Batterie Wijk am See)
  • Baupunkt 73 (Kernwerk)
  • Baupunkt 75 (Schnellbootbunker)
  • Baupunkt 80 (Flak Batterie Metzing Alt) Regretfully this site was demolished to create a parking place. We show the German plan of flak Batterie Metzing Alt and a RAF photo after bombarding the location.
  • Baupunkt 81 (Seeziel Batterie Heerenduin) Many bunkers are open, so a visit to the inner side is possible.
  • Baupunkt 82 (Flak Batterie Olmen) Many bunkers of this location have been dugget out of the sand and can be seen.
  • Baupunkt 84 This point containes a tank-wall.
  • Baupunkt 85 This point containes a tankwall and some small bunkers
  • Baupunkt 92 (Flak Batterie Sud-Ost)
  • Baupunkt 109 This point was the headquarter of fortress IJmuiden.
  • Baupunkt 142 (Seeziel Batterie Langerak) This interesting site is located about a 1500 meters south from Baupunkt 84 and is not shown on the map.
  

At Festung IJmuiden the soldiers at the coastal batteries (BP 66, 73, 81, 142) were from the MAA 201 (Navy Artillery Group 201), located at BP63. The soldiers at the Anti-aircraft batteries (BP 82) were comming from the MFlA 808 (Navy anti-air group 808). The MFlA 808 could also be found on BP 73 and BP63. MFlA 246 was also placed a the southern part of the Fortress. The landdefence of the Fortress was primary done by the 168.

  • Baupunkt 89 XIX(Staelduinse bos)

  • Baupunkt 14 C (Flak Batterie Nordmole)
  • Baupunkt 25 Seeziel batterie Brandenburg. This gun-battery has three turrets which were removed from a dutch ship.

  • Baupunkt 29 Seeziel batterie Roozenburg
  

At Festung Hook of Holland the soldiers at the coastal batterie Vineta (BP14b) were comming from the MAA205 (Navy Artillery Group 205), located at BP14a.
